Chris Lesley began his artistic career rather unconventionally – as a seven-year-old street hustler who sold his marker drawings of tigers, dragons, Christian saints and Greek mythology characters door-to-door for $20 each. Before graduating high school, Lesley landed two impressive showings of his work in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. He received an Associate of Science degree in Commercial Art from Tampa Technical Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from Ringling School of Art and Design. He then went on to work as a comic book artist and theming artist/sculptor for several companies specializing in creating exhibits for amusement parks, museums, zoos, highly themed restaurants and resorts, etc.
Today, Lesley offers fine art, interior painting, sculpture, corporate art design, scenic environment and film, TV and stage set and prop design services as well as CNC services as an independent contractor. He also works with Jacksonville-based Artists At Work and Pizzazz Scenic contractors, leading creators of themed environments. Lesley’s notable clients have included entertainer Janet Jackson and professional golfer Fred Funk, and his work can be seen at:
- Ripley’s Believe It Or Not
- Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants throughout the US and Turks Islands
- Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens
- International Spy Museum
Lesley’s work ranges from water color seascapes to relief sculptures depicting historical events and theories to elaborate themed environments. He is available for commissioned work including fine art painting and sculpture; theming design and production; murals and faux finishes for residential and corporate projects; comics and illustration; and reproduction of Old Masters artworks, artifacts, fossils and film, TV and stage props.
Lesley also is developing Revelation Arts – art and theming work branded specifically for churches, synagogues, faith- and family-based nonprofits.
